Who is GoNano?
GoNano is a North American technology company that develops and sells nanotechnology-based surface protection products for a variety of surfaces. The various solutions use millions of microscopic silica particles that penetrate into materials like asphalt shingles, concrete, and wood to strengthen them from the inside out rather than just coating the surface. This helps those surfaces resist water, UV damage, wind, impact, and aging, often extending their useful lifespan by 10–15 years compared with untreated materials.
GoNano’s products—such as NuRoof Fortify for newer roofs and NuRoof Revive for aging roofs—are marketed to homeowners and contractors as long-lasting, invisible protection that reduces maintenance and delays costly replacements.
What is Nanotechnology?
Nanotechnology is the science of working with matter at an extremely tiny scale—nanometers—which are one-billionth of a meter (about the size of a few atoms lined up).
To give you a sense of scale: a human hair is ~80,000 nanometers wide and a red blood cell is ~7,000 nanometers. Nanotechnology works around 1–100 nanometers. At this scale, materials behave differently than they do in normal size — they can become stronger, lighter, more conductive, more reactive, and better at interacting with cells, light, or electricity. Nanotechnology lets scientists design and control atoms and molecules to create new materials, devices, and systems.
Ranging from 40 to 60 nanometers in size, the nanoparticles GoNano uses are infinitely microscopic, which is what allows them to penetrate various surface materials to protect them from the inside. Unlike a coating or paint that creates a protective layer on the surface, our nanosealers act on the molecular structure of materials to both modify and strengthen them.
GoNano technology has changed how roof sealants work. Traditional shingles are sealed with oil, which simply fills the gaps between them. GoNano works deeper—it permanently modifies and strengthens the molecular structure of each asphalt shingle. After application, a reaction inside the shingle creates S1 particles, which bond the granules together. This inside-out protection forms a stronger barrier against the elements and helps extend the lifespan of your roof for up to 15 years, saving you money.
